What is Therabath® Paraffin Thermotherapy?

Therabath® is a professional thermotherapy treatment that uses warm paraffin wax to provide soothing warmth, intensive skin conditioning and a therapeutic experience.

The paraffin forms a protective coating around the feet, helping to retain warmth and reduce moisture loss. Skin feels softer, smoother and more supple while the gentle warmth provides temporary comfort for tired, aching feet or stiff joints. The soothing experience, encourages you to unwind and enjoy some time for yourself.

What Happens During Your Treatment?

• Your appointment begins with an assessment of your feet and confirmation that paraffin thermotherapy is suitable for you.
• Your feet are carefully cleansed using professional skin cleanser, followed by the application of a hydrating moisturiser.
• Each foot is then gently dipped into warm Therabath® paraffin wax, building approximately ten layers over the toes, soles, heels and up to the ankles.
• The feet are wrapped and placed into insulated boots for approximately 10–15 minutes, helping to retain the comforting warmth of the paraffin.
• Once the treatment is complete, the wax is carefully removed and discarded, leaving your feet feeling beautifully soft and conditioned.

Therabath® can also be combined with a complete Nail Care treatment, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of professional nail maintenance and paraffin thermotherapy in one appointment.

Is Therabath® Suitable for Everyone?

Although Therabath® is suitable for many clients, heat treatment is not appropriate for everyone.

Certain conditions, including impaired circulation, reduced skin sensation, open wounds, active skin or nail infections and some diabetes-related complications, may make treatment unsuitable.

A consultation and appropriate foot health checks are carried out before treatment to ensure that it is suitable for your individual circumstances.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Therabath® paraffin wax feel hot? 

The wax is maintained at a controlled treatment temperature and should feel comfortably warm rather than excessively hot. Your suitability for heat treatment is assessed beforehand.

How long does the treatment take? 

A standalone Therabath® appointment takes approximately 45 minutes, while a new-client appointment with consultation takes approximately 60 minutes. When combined with professional Nail Care, approximately 90 minutes is allocated.

Does Therabath® help with arthritis?

Therapeutic warmth may provide temporary relief from mild joint stiffness and discomfort associated with some forms of arthritis. However, it does not treat or cure arthritis, and heat treatment may not be appropriate for all inflammatory joint conditions.

Is Therabath® hygienic?

Yes. The paraffin bath procedure is maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s hygiene guidance. The feet are cleansed before treatment, and all used paraffin wax is discarded.

Do I need nail care to have Therabath®? 

No. Therabath® is available as a standalone treatment, making it ideal for clients who would like to enjoy the skin-conditioning, therapeutic and warming benefits without professional nail care.

Can I have Therabath® if I have diabetes?

Some people with diabetes may have reduced sensation or circulation, which increases the risks associated with heat treatment. Suitability must be assessed individually, and treatment may not be appropriate.
