Personalised Support, Comfort & Mobility
Your feet provide the foundation for every step you take. When pressure is unevenly distributed the effects may be contributing to recurring corns, excessive callus, discomfort and strain during everyday activities.
At MEDI-BLISS Foot Health Clinic in Woodseaves, Staffordshire, I offer Formthotics prescription insoles, individually selected and professionally fitted to provide support, while helping to improve function and comfort.
Whether you’re experiencing recurring pressure-related foot problems, discomfort when walking or simply feel that your feet would benefit from additional support, a Formthotics assessment can help establish whether prescription orthotics are appropriate for you.
What Are Formthotics?
Formthotics are heat-mouldable orthotics (insoles) designed to support the feet and influence how pressure is distributed during standing, walking and other activities.
Unlike standard shop-bought insoles, Formthotics are available in different sizes and densities, allowing the appropriate option to be selected according to your individual footwear and needs.
These orthotics are fitted into your shoe and professionally heat-moulded for a customised fit to your foot and footwear.
The heat-moulding process helps the orthotics conform to the shape of your feet and your footwear, creating greater contact between the two.
By increasing the level of contact, Formthotics can reduce unwanted movement and friction within the footwear to improve comfort during everyday activities.
Where necessary, additional heat-moulded modifications can be made to provide more targeted support or pressure relief. The aim is to improve comfort, support foot function and help manage problems associated with uneven pressure or repetitive strain.
Who Would Benefit from Formthotics?
Formthotics may be helpful for people experiencing:
Orthotics are not suitable for everyone, and their effectiveness depends on the individual and the underlying cause of their symptoms.
A professional assessment is therefore an important first step.
Managing Pressure, Not Just Treating the Symptoms
Corns and callus often develop in response to repeated pressure and friction and although professional foot care can remove uncomfortable hard skin and provide relief, these problems may return if the contributing pressure remains unchanged.
At MEDI-BLISS, I take a broader approach when treating corns and callus by considering not only the condition of your skin but also how your feet function and distribute pressure.
Where appropriate, Formthotics are recommended to help redistribute pressure away from vulnerable areas, potentially reducing the recurrence of pressure-related problems.
Combining professional foot care with individually selected orthotic support, provides both immediate comfort and longer-term management.
Your Formthotics Treatment Journey
Appointment 1 – Combined General Foot Health & Formthotics Consultation
Your treatment begins with a comprehensive assessment of your foot health and individual requirements. This includes reviewing your medical history, discussing your symptoms and examining your feet, together with balance assessment and 2D footprint analysis to help identify areas of pressure and insole requirements.
Where appropriate, I will also examine your footwear and discuss how your daily activities may be contributing to discomfort.
If you are experiencing painful corns or excessive callus, foot care will focus on these priority areas during your consultation. Additional foot care will be provided if appointment time allows or arranged for your next visit.
Following your assessment, the most appropriate Formthotics insoles will be selected and ordered specifically for you.
A Formthotics Only Consultation is also available for clients who do not require foot care.
Appointment 2 - Your Personalised Formthotics Fitting
Once your selected orthotics arrive, you will return to the clinic for your fitting appointment.
Your Formthotics will be fitted into your footwear and professionally heat-moulded. While the insoles are still warm you will be asked to put your footwear on and wear them for approximately 20 minutes. This is an important part of the fitting process allowing the insole to mould to your individual foot shape.
You will receive guidance on how to introduce your new insoles gradually, what to expect as you adapt to wearing them and how to care for them.
Any additional general foot care required at this appointment will be carried out before the fitting process and is charged separately.
Appointment 3 - Follow-up Review & Foot Care
Approximately 6-8 weeks after fitting, I recommend a follow-up appointment to assess your progress.
During this visit, I will review the comfort and fit of your orthotics, discuss any changes in symptoms and examine your feet for signs of recurring pressure, corns or callus.
Where appropriate, modifications can be made to your existing Formthotics to improve comfort or provide additional support.
This appointment also includes general foot care, allowing both your foot health and orthotic support to be managed together.
Appointment 4 - Six-month Review & Ongoing Care
A further review is recommended approximately six months after fitting.
This provides an opportunity to reassess comfort, fit, the condition of your orthotics and any changes in your foot health.
Further reviews can be incorporated into regular foot care appointments if appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Formthotics the same as ordinary insoles?
No. Formthotics are available in different sizes and densities and are individually selected following a professional assessment. They are then heat-moulded for a customised fit to accommodate your feet and footwear.
Can Formthotics prevent corns and callus from returning?
Where corns or callus are caused by excessive pressure or friction, appropriate orthotic support may help reduce the forces contributing to their development. However, results vary and regular foot care may still be necessary.
Will Formthotics help with foot, ankle or heel pain?
Formthotics may help certain conditions where foot mechanics or pressure distribution contribute to discomfort. Their suitability depends on the underlying cause, and some symptoms may require referral for podiatric assessment.
Will I need to wear my orthotics all day?
You will be advised to introduce your Formthotics gradually, increasing wearing time as comfort allows. Individual advice will be provided during your fitting appointment.
Can I move my Formthotics between different shoes?
Formthotics are professionally moulded to your feet and the footwear used during fitting. Although they may be transferable to other suitable shoes, differences in shoe shape, depth and internal support can affect their fit and performance. For the best results, I recommend using them primarily in the footwear for which they were fitted.
Will I need adjustments after fitting?
Not necessarily. Some clients find their orthotics comfortable without further modification, while others may benefit from adjustments following a period of use.
Appropriate modifications are included at no additional charge during the first six months.
Do I need regular foot care as well?
This depends on your individual needs. Orthotics may help manage pressure-related problems, but they do not necessarily replace professional foot care if corns or callus require treatment.
How long will my Formthotics last?
The lifespan of your Formthotics depends on the type selected, frequency of use, footwear and activity levels. As a rough guide they may last as long as the footwear for which they were fitted, although wear and support should be reviewed periodically.
