TREATMENT INFORMATION & PRICING

The Formthotics Consultation

Custom Medical Formthotics™ are a revolutionary insole devise used for injury prevention, enhanced balance, improved footwear comfort and the treatment of conditions such as Plantar Fasciitis & Achilles Tendonitis …

but Orthotics are not just for people with “foot problems”; they’re a powerful way to support your entire body, every single day.

Orthotics Improve Your Balance & Reduce The Risk of Falls

Orthotics help to stabilise you from the ground up, improving your balance and posture.

If the feet are unstable or misaligned, the body has to compensate, often without you even realising it. Over time, this can lead to unsteadiness, especially when walking on uneven surfaces or during longer periods on your feet.

The reality is that one foot might need more height in the heel area to tilt it forward; or your feet may need more height along the outer edge to stop your feet from rolling outwards. There are numerous modification combinations that can realign your feet into their optimal position.

Having stability at ground level, can significantly reduce the risk of trips, falls, and the related injuries; something that becomes increasingly important with age, but stability is beneficial for everyone.

Orthotics Reduce Corns & Callus Build-Up

Corns and callus don’t just “appear”, they are your body’s response to excessive pressure and friction.

If certain areas of the foot are receiving more pressure than they should, the skin thickens to protect itself. While regular foot care can manage this, addressing the cause is key to long-term relief and healthier skin over time.

Orthotics help to redistribute pressure EVENLY over the entire sole of the foot, reducing pressure points helps to prevent these painful conditions developing in the first place.

Orthotics Support Your Whole Body

Your body works as one connected system. When your feet are misaligned, your whole body is misaligned. Because Orthotics help to correct foot positioning, this naturally creates a chain reaction helping to realign ankles, knees, hips and even your lower back and spine. Relieving unnecessary stress on these joints, improves your posture, joint pressure and your overall comfort when walking and standing.

Clients who are new to orthotics are surprised to discover how improving foot alignment can relieve discomfort in areas far beyond their feet.

Prevent Problems Before They Start

Supporting your feet sooner rather than later, helps to prevent long-term issues, making orthotics a proactive step in your overall health; not just a reactive solution to pain.

Formthotics are the perfect choice for everyone, from all walks of life, young or old, active or not.

A Bit Of History

The science behind Formthotics was researched the 1970’s, by musculoskeletal expert, Dr. Charlie Baycroft. Noticing that more and more of his patients, with no anatomy abnormalities, were suffering from pain in the feet and legs. If the problem was not coming from within the body, could it be a result of the environment?

For much of human history, people have walked on soft, natural walking surfaces like earth, grass and sand. Only within the past 200 years have flat, hard walking surfaces become prevalent. These surfaces force our feet to contort and flatten, instead of being allowed to settle naturally.

Noting this, Dr. Baycroft realised there was another way to treat dysfunctions in the legs and feet. Drawing from the fields of sports medicine, musculoskeletal medicine, podiatry and physiotherapy, Dr. Baycroft developed a revolutionary new treatment model and Custom Medical Formthotics™ were born.

Over the past 40 years, clients and foot specialists alike have noticed an astounding improvement in lower extremity pain and foot dysfunction thanks to the use of Formthotics™. Now the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of prescription insoles, foot clinics around the world have adopted Formthotics™ as an effective prevention devise and treatment for many common conditions.

How Does The Process Work?

During the consultation details of any pain and how it has affected your body will be documented. Your joint function, stance, pressure points and balance are also assessed and the results will form a prescription for the right type of Formthotic for you, your shoe and your activities.

Prescriptions take into account the type of shoe they will be fitted to, the required density of the material, the position of the arch support relative to your shoe size and any modifications required under the heels, the instep or the foot pads.

Prescriptions are ordered and delivered to the clinic in a matter of days allowing your fitting to take place shortly after your first consultation. Measurements do not need to be sent away to another organisation to produce laboratory-made or 3D printed orthotics, which can be time consuming and costly.

Formthotics are made of Formax™ foam, and with no hard plastic parts, they adapt and move with your feet, comfortably supporting your every movement.

If modifications are required these are done in-clinic during the fitting process. It’s quick & easy and because you can try the modifications before they are fitted to your shoe, any adjustments can be made straight away.

The insoles are customised further by thermoforming (heat moulding) to the contours of your feet and your shoes; you will literally see your foot shape imprinted into the insoles within a week of wearing them.

Knowing how your feet carry your body everyday of your life, doesn’t it make sense to support yourself properly?

Think of orthotics as a sound investment in your future comfort, mobility, and wellbeing.
